Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Alembic, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not access the service.

Description of Service

Alembic is a platform for creating aesthetic micro-essays as shareable images. We provide tools for writing, formatting, and exporting your content.

Guest Usage: Core functionality (writing and exporting with default themes) is available without an account. No terms apply to anonymous guest usage beyond prohibited content restrictions.

Account Features: Creating an account enables draft storage, custom themes, and cross-device access. By creating an account, you agree to these Terms of Service.

User Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account
You must provide accurate and complete information during registration

User Content

Ownership and Licensing

You retain all ownership rights to content you create using Alembic
By using Alembic, you grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, and display your content solely for the purpose of operating and providing the service
This license terminates when you delete your content or account, except for content that has been shared or cached

Paid Services

Subscriptions

Premium subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis
You may cancel your subscription at any time
Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period
No refunds for partial subscription periods

Payment Processing

Payments are processed through third-party payment processors
You agree to provide accurate payment information
You are responsible for all charges incurred under your account

Intellectual Property

Platform Rights

Alembic, its logo, design, and original features are owned by Lauri Paronen and protected by copyright and trademark laws
You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse engineer any part of the service

User-Generated Themes

If we implement a theme marketplace, creators retain ownership of their themes
Theme creators grant purchasers a non-exclusive license to use purchased themes
Specific marketplace terms will be provided when this feature launches

Prohibited Use

You may not use Alembic to:

Create or distribute illegal content
Harass, threaten, or abuse others
Spam or conduct phishing attacks
Violate intellectual property rights
Attempt to compromise service security

Service Modifications

We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the service at any time
We will provide reasonable notice for significant changes
Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of new terms

Disclaimer of Warranties

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:

Fitness for a particular purpose
Merchantability
Non-infringement
Uninterrupted or error-free operation

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Alembic and its creator shall not be liable for:

Indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
Loss of profits, data, or goodwill
Service interruptions or data loss

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Alembic and its creator from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:

Your use of the service
Your violation of these terms
Your violation of any rights of another party

Data Export and Account Deletion

You may export your content as images (PNG or SVG) at any time
To delete your account and all associated data, contact support@alembic.space
Account deletion is permanent. Deleted data may persist in encrypted backups for up to 30 days
Data is stored on secure third-party infrastructure (Supabase)

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Finland, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Dispute Resolution

For any disputes:

Contact us at support@alembic.space - most issues can be resolved through communication
If unresolved, disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of Finnish courts

Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of modified terms.
